I love the classroom, but not everybody does. I respect that (enough so that I watched as my children didn’t really flourish in traditional school and I created my own curriculum for one of my sons — The Little Green School House was born). But my hope is whether in the classroom or not there is always learning and curiosity going on. In my 20’s I graduated from The Newhouse School at Syracuse University and then I attended The Neighborhood Playhouse where I studied acting. In my 30’s I got my Masters in Professional Writing from The University of Southern California. In my 40’s I got a Teaching Certificate in Pedagogy of Creative Writing from Antioch University. Who knows what I will do in my 50’s.

I am the creator and founder of Mommie Brain, which are writing classes to document the experiences of parenting. They have been taught in person throughout Los Angeles as well as online and have been featured in The Daily Candy. Read more about Mommie Brain over on the (m)other page.

I am currently teaching History thru Comedy at Alcove Learning in Los Angeles and developing curriculum for unschoolers and Liberated Learners.

The pursuit of knowing was freedom to me, the right to declare your own curiosities and follow them through all manner of books. I was made for the library, not the classroom. The classroom was a jail of other people’s interests. The library was open, unending, free.
